Saturday, December 13th, the Magnolia Community Foundation hosted the 2015 Miss Magnolia Scholarship Pageant. 24 Magnolia, high school-aged, young ladies competed for the title. Courtney Cantu, a senior at Magnolia High School ,was crowned our 2015 Miss Magnolia. Courtney was awarded a $1,000 scholarship, sponsored by Outback Western Wear, and her Miss Magnolia Brooch, sponsored by County Commissioner Charlie Riley. The Royal court in order is: 1st runner-up Kensley Phillips; 2nd runner-up Avery Jones; 3rd runner-up – Jenna Carter and 4th runner up – Victoria Slater; Miss Congeniality is Ryleigh Reynold, whose brooch sponsor was Quality of Life Chiropractic. And People’s Choice was Kara Eddlemon, whose brooch sponsor was Texas Renaissance Festival.
Magnolia Community Foundation is a non-profit organization serving as an ‘umbrella’ organization for the Magnolia area non-profit organizations. 2014 grants were awarded during the Pageant to: Magnolia Kids for Change, Montgomery County Youth Services, and Magnolia High School – Skills USA Health Science program. Part of the mission of MCF is creating large venues and other opportunities to serve the local non-profits. “Together we are stronger than separate!” On the night of the Pageant, refreshments were sold and served by the MHS-Debate Club for their upcoming awards’ trip and can food donations were collected for SOS.
